There are Japanese not-quite-mon cards my sister bought in high school that never took off like the particularly famous mon cards, and for years they sat around collecting dust by our TV set. She was in high school in the late '00's to very early '10's. It's long past.
It reminds me of a collector's edition thing we got in '13 or '14 or so. I actually keep them nearby and sometimes sort through them. But it's been more than 10 years now--maybe 11 years, maybe 12. The fact that there are cards around that are important to me but are so old is strange. "You'll never be a teenager again" settled in me by 30, but it's strong this year at 33 turning 34 by year's end.
Why are they important to me? I know why, but as long as they exist... I'll know the years have kept going on! How odd. Maybe one day I'll lose most of them. But then the memory will stick, even if whispering. I'm unsure if I'm surprised to be 33 or not. I always had a stubborn but easily depressed mentality. It was easier to hide till university.
I'm glad I've reached 33. What an odd year. Reminds me of the year I turned 13. Less sparkling, but something important to me. Especially with what I've been trying to get out lately. I've always wanted to. Blue Horizon is something I've grown up with since around 13... How odd!
Beyond that, I remember going through blog posts that Neocities people have found from older people who were slowly recording their collection of special edition childhood erasers and such from the '70's. Japanese people in particular, with cute materials! People from elsewhere, too. I feel like that when I think about some of the little items we have around the house. There's an interesting rainbowing LGBTQ-ass card from my sister's high school set that I put away in a DVD case, and that card may be less dusty or musty than the rest? Maybe.
Here's the little cute eraser set from the Japanese person I found through Neocities, which reminds me of the Chandrani-Rivera triplets from Blue Horizon. I think the copyright of these cartoon critters may still be up or not, so if I ever need to delete, oh well, but I'll still put it under a cut for now:
( Someone else's memory that reminds me of my characters from Blue Horizon )
